How do you remove dried nail polish from a laptop?

Is it safe to use nail polish remover or should I use something else, like cleaning alcohol? It's not that much, but still...yeah.

@-%26gt;--%26gt;-How do you remove dried nail polish from a laptop?
Be very careful with any kind of solvent. If it can take off nail polish, it can also take off lables and paint too. Do your best not to get any kind of liquid whatsoever on the keys as it can drip down into the laptop and short it out.

Whatever you do, shut the power off to the laptop and remove the battery before trying to clean it.

Apply the cleaner (I'd try rubbing alchohol first) to a cotton swab and dab that on the nail polish first.

In future, keep all liquids, including nail polish, well away from your laptop or any electronic device (except for kitchen gadgets of course). The two main enemies of computers are dust and liquids.

I work on repairing computers for a living and a lot of the machines I work on have been damaged by liquid spills. Getting full of dust on the inside causes overheating in both desktops and laptops so have the insides of the computer cleaned at least once a year too. You can do it yourself if you wear an anti static wrist strap and are careful not to remove anything you are not sure where or how to put back from the inside of the computer. How do you remove dried nail polish from a laptop?
If the nail polish is just somewhere on the side, not on the keyboard, then just use some nail polish remover or some windex

If the nail polish is on the keyboard part then I would spray some windex or nail polish on a rag and rub it in the rag thouraly. Then turn your computer off. Then gently swab the spot where the nail polish is and be careful not to drip any of the windex or nail polish into the keyboard panel.Hope this works!
Just remove the battery and unplug the laptop, then it should be perfectly safe to wipe away the nail polish with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Once it is dry, install the battery and plug back in. Good luck.
try windex or cleaning alcohol first. also, try scratching it off with your finger nail. if all else fails, go for the nail polish remover!

you should use nailpolish remover. i dont think alcohol is the best answer to this, so go for a mild nailpoloshremover, thats how i removed my nailpolish from my old laptop
it depends on where it is on your laptop.

if it's on your keyboard, i'm not sure..

but if it's somewhere else, i'm pretty sure it's fine

to use nail polish remover
Nail polish remover should be fine. If you are still worried, try diluting it a little with water and don't scrub too hard. Lightly rub it down in layers until it's gone. It will be fine :)
Don't use nail polish remover it's not designed foe use on plastics and will mark the surface, just chip it off carefully with your nail.
Yes you can use nail polish remover but dont just pour it on there. Try dabbing some onto a cotton ball or a QTip and scrubbing it with that.
Nailpolish remover won't do anything as long as you dont drench the keyboard in it. Just put a little on a cotton swab and wipe it off.
sam thing happened to me.as long as you dont pour the nail polish remover on it it's safe just use a small towel or a cotton ball
I would try the Mr. Clean eraser. Sometimes nail polish will strip away the color.
get a cotton bud, and use nail-polish remover gently remove what on the mouse okay.
When you find out let me know because I have something that is dried up and sticky on my laptop.
nail polish remover or alcohol.
Take some q-tips and some nail polish remover. Viola!
80 grit sandpaper.
use nail polish remover w/ a cotton swab/ball
yea, use non-acetone nail polish remover. And stop doing your nails in front of your laptop! :)
Nail Polish and not alot of it is needed
yeah nail polish remover is safe
Dump a bottle of Pepsi on it....leave it for a few hours, then clean up the mess and sell it on eBay.

How do you get dried nail polish out of cotton and jeans clothing with out getting any fancy fabric cleaners?

I have American eagle shirt and Hollister paints which are really alot of money and they are not made any more and I am really upset some one help me !!!How do you get dried nail polish out of cotton and jeans clothing with out getting any fancy fabric cleaners?
Try spraying hairspray on the spot, letting it soak, and then washing normally. How do you get dried nail polish out of cotton and jeans clothing with out getting any fancy fabric cleaners?
They make a product called Goo Gone, its sold at grocery stores, walmart, lowes, etc. It's about $4. Put some drops on the polish and let it sit for 30 min. then put more on and rub it with a course rag. It should start to soften up even if it's been there for a while. After you get it the polish out, the Goo Gone may leave a round circle similar to a grease stain on the fabric, put a drop or two of liquid dish soap, like Dawn on it and wash as usual.
very carefully?? idk but don't buy expensive clothes thats rlly stupid when you can get rlly nice clothes at like kohls or something that look like something they would sell at hollister [minus the adorable little eagle:( ] for a lot cheaper and use your money towards something better.
Use nail polish remover on a rag until most is out, then try goo-gone on any remaining residue.

rubbing alcohol..How do i get dried nail polish off of a green suede couch?
Never use nail polish remover to remove stains on clothing, furniture, etc. You need to go to a hardware store such as Lowes, %26amp; see what they advise you to use. You'll need some type of solvent but I'm not sure of the name of it.
You could try using a nail file where the polish stain is, just don't rub too hard.
Try Goo Gone or Goof Off, but tested it first to make sure it will not bleach the green. You will get rid of the nail polish, but you may have a white spot in it's place.
Next time do your nails in the bathroom.

    You aren't that coordinated.
i think you may have to get it professionally cleaned
I don't know about suede, but when my 2 yr. got into my nail polish it got all over the carpet, I used Goo-Gone and it worked!
Try and freeze it off. Best not use anymore , nail varnish remover, you might remove the color from the couch, Suede is very hard to clean. Once the varnish it hard scrape off with a blunt knife

How can I remove dried nail polish from a hardwood floor?

My three year old dumped two bottles of nail polish she found in her sister's room all over the hardwood floor. How can I remove this without having to redo the entire floor? Is there anything I can use that won't remove the finishing from the floor? I tried non-acetone nail polish remover in a very small spot, but that took the finish off. Is there anything else I can do? This is my first home and I'm completely clueless when it comes to these things!!!How can I remove dried nail polish from a hardwood floor?
mineral spirits!!!!!!! im a cabniet installer and i do the same thing a lot with laquer based paint, the same as your nail polish, altho it didnt have acatone in the the remover it was alcahol based which stripped your lauqer based floor finish, mineral spirits is and oil base, it might take some scrubbing but it will work. it can be bought at any hardware or paint storeHow can I remove dried nail polish from a hardwood floor?
Non-acetone polish remover should not have taken the varnish off a hardwood floor. Are you sure that it is real wood that has been varnished or is it a laminate product?

I would call a company that sells wood/laminate floors and ask them. If you have a small store near you I would call them first, they are more likely to have the time and be more willing to answer your questions.

You may have to pick it off little by little. Try using a small exacto knife and work a very tiny section at a time. (Like the size of a pencil point).

If all else fails, put a piece of furniture over it. All us moms have had to do that at one time or another.

    Good luck

Why does nail polish not dry up in the bottle?

The nail polish is not exposed to oxygen, which would cause it to dry out. It's tightly packed so that there are rarely air bubbles, and preserved. Think about any food for that matter...if it's canned or sealed, it won't become stale. Yet once you open it, you must keep it in the fridge and tightly sealed! It's for the same reason...oxygen causes it to dry out.Why does nail polish not dry up in the bottle?
If you keep it long enough... it will...Why does nail polish not dry up in the bottle?
because it is not spread out and air does not enter the bottle. air is what dries things up so if you have it in a tight condensed space it will not dry up as fast.
bc theres no air in the bottle to dry out the polish...

What's the best way to remove dried nail polish from a t-shirt?

My daughter brought me her tpshirt that has red nail polish on it, along with her blue jeans. any ideas on how ti get it out? What's the best way to remove dried nail polish from a t-shirt?
Cellulose paint thinners (as distinct from white spirit, etc),available from car accessory shops or auto paint suppliers will dissolve it (and NOT the T-shirt!). Work outside because it's a bit whiffy! Put the T-shirt in warm soapy water immediately afterwards. What's the best way to remove dried nail polish from a t-shirt?
Straight acetone(hardware store %26amp; mask), cotton balls, and paper towels. Cover your face with a respirator or a cotton mask (you'll look life a goof ball, but trust me on this one!). Soak a cotton ball in Acetone. Put the paper towels under the material that has polish on it. Dab the cotton ball on the paint until it has bled completely onto the paper towel. Launder ASAP
    throw the t-shirt out
well, first i would call or email the company that made the nail polish and ask for recommendations.

if i didn't get a useful answer, i would try removing it gently by patting the dried nail polish a lot using whatever regular nail polish remover you or she typically use to get that brand of nail polish off your fingernails.

    It may well be impossible.
the solvents mentioned above will probably disolve the polish, but if it's red, it will leave a pink stain no matter what you do. I'd chuck the clothes.
